PRODUCTION SERVICE:

PLATYPUS DIGITAL provides a turnkey service for any wine region, anywhere in the world, to develop BACKPACK, BUDGET or BLING. The service includes filming and post production for the 360 WalkThru videos. See below for an explanation and example of a 360 WalkThru video. The example is a luxury safari lodge in the Kruger National Park but could be a 360 WalkThru video of a wine estates tasting room, cellar and restaurant.

WHAT CONTENT IS PRODUCED?

BACKPACK highlights the adventurous and accessible side of wine regions - cycling between vineyards, staying in backpacker lodges or farm cottages, enjoying casual tastings, food markets, picnics among the vines and discovering small family-run wineries.

BUDGET focuses on comfort and value - boutique guesthouses, wine estate restaurants, curated tastings, guided wine tours and authentic regional cuisine. This style appeals to travellers who want a relaxed wine country experience with great food, beautiful accommodation and memorable activities at a reasonable cost.

BLING showcases the premium side of wine tourism - luxury vineyard lodges, private cellar tours, exclusive tastings with winemakers, fine-dining restaurants, helicopter transfers between estates, spa experiences and once-in-a-lifetime wine experiences.

The wine region is captured through immersive virtual reality and cinematic storytelling, allowing future visitors to step into the vineyards, sit at the tasting table, explore charming villages and experience the atmosphere of wine country before they arrive.

HOW CAN A WINE REGION GET STARTED?

For a wine region to get started, we’d recommend creating at least 20 x 360 WalkThru wine estate videos and 45 x 360 WalkThru videos.

The 45 x 360 WalkThru videos are broken down as follows for each option, viz, BACKPACK, BUDGET, or BLING:

  • 6 x Accommodation Options - 18 in total
  • 6 x Meal / Restaurant Options - 18 in total
  • 3 x Activity Options - 9 in total

HOW ARE THE 360 WalkThru VIDEOS USED?

  • All the participants will be given a digital copy of their 360 WalkThru video to use for marketing and promotions.
  • The wine route marketing organisation will be provided with a digital copy of all 65 x 360 WalkThru video's.
  • All the 360 WalkThru video's will be included on the Backpack, Budget or Bling website which will feature a Travel Video Map. To view an example of the Travel Video Map, click HERE.
  • The embed code for the Travel Video Map will be supplied and can be used embedded into any tourism marketing website.

​WHAT ARE THE COSTS?
​
  • All the 360 WalkThru videos will all be filmed on a 15 - 20 day shoot to a wine region.
  • The cost would be US$ 405.00 / € 350.00 per participant.
  • Additional 7 - 10 day shoots will be planned in wine regions to add additional 360 WalkThru videos and grow the selection for travellers.

WHAT IS A 360 WALKTHRU?

A representative from a wine region, wine estate, hotel or restaurant or does a walk through holding a 360VR camera on a selfie stick in front of them.

When the video is viewed, the selfie stick becomes invisible and it feels as if the camera is floating in front of the person doing the walk through.

While viewing you can ‘look around’ the full 360 video as if you were doing the walking through.

The walk through can just have a music soundtrack or it can include a voice over to make it more personal. Various multiple language versions can be produced.

The video is hosted on YouTube so it's easy to share and to view on multiple device and platforms. If viewing on your smartphone move your smarphone around to view or use your finger on your screen to scroll around. If viewing on a laptop or desktop, click and drag your mouse to video the full 360VR video.

CREATE ONCE - USE MANY TIMES

Immersive virtual reality content such as 360 WalkThru's is one of the most powerful tools for wine tourism marketing and should be part of every wine regions marketing toolkit. The content is device agnostic and can be viewed as a shared experience inside a SUPER REALITY DOME, immersively (VR headsets), semi-immersively (phones, tablets & Smart TVs), or interactively (desktop/mobile apps & browsers).

It can be viewed across many different platforms and devices and can be easily embedded into websites and shared via newsletters, blogs and social media. The 360VR content can be hosted on a cloud based server for anyone to access and download.
