One million bottles of South African wine is sold every day around the world. By placing a small augmented reality code on every wine label sold will create 365 million marketing opportunities every year.
Chances are that when a wine lover is shopping for wine, they'll have their smartphone with them so why not make it easier for them to choose your wine? Creating intelligent labels with AR codes unlocks interactive content hidden in a small code which is printed discreetly on a wine label, on a shelf display, your marketing material, your website or shared via social media platforms.
Scan the WebAR codes below or download the free Zappar from your app store and zap the examples below to discover the hidden interactive content. |
When the AR code is zapped, eight content widgets appear and a voice over gives more information about the wine. Each content widget can be selected by tapping on your smartphone screen. Once tapped, it will link to the relevant content. In this example, the eight content widgets link to:

AR codes at events & tastings
Remembering what wine you tasted, where it's from, what it can be paired with, etc can be very confusing. If you liked it, you'd also like to order it, but from where? An AR code will allow wine lovers to have all the information easily on their mobile phone at any time. The AR code also allows sponsors to share information about their products & services as per this example. The widgets in this example provide links to:

AR codes for wine routes & wine regions
AR codes can be used by wine routes and wine regions to market and promote members and encourage wine tourism. The AR code can be included on various physical and digital marketing material and platforms. A tip when you're trying these out - cover one with a piece of paper as the Zappar app will zap the first one it sees!
AR codes for wine associations or clubs
Whether you're a wine association or club, AR codes can used to promote and market wineries to your members, provide information and link to online stores. The example below was created for the Chenin Blanc Association for Drink Chenin Day.
How often can AR code content be changed?
Every AR code is unique and will never change. Content can however be changed very easily and as often as required. It takes just few minutes to update so wine lovers will therefore always have the most up to date information about the wine and the winery. Various types of content can be included in the AR code and if using the Zappar app, it stores a list of recent zaps and favorites so consumers can always access the AR code content without needing to zap the AR code again.
